An exceptionally finely decorated Napoleonic Empire period open Arm Chair in padouk. Originating in the Dutch East Indies, probably carved by a master Balinese carver. The arms with well carved ‘grotesque’ dolphin heads, terminating in scaled fish tails. Re-upholstered in a soft teal linen cotton mix, incorporating original horse hair under filling and webbing, circa 1815-20.
